If I Were Apple, I’d be Suing AT&T…

AT&T released a ridiculous figure, below projections, of the number of iPhone activations - 146,000. Although that number is in my mind high enough anyway, fickle investors everywhere dropped their Apple stock in a heartbeat. It was a huge blow to the Apple stock, bringing it down several points. Now first and foremost I’m angry at the investors — what are you, stupid? The iPhone is the most successful cellphone EVER, and you’re complaining because the initial number isn’t quite as high as projected? You’re all morons, and you’re going to lose a lot of money because of it.
But next let me take out some of my frustration on AT&T. What were you thinking releasing that? The idea is to make it look like you’re doing WELL!!! You don’t do everything you can to make the number look SMALL! Apple reports that in the FIRST TWO DAYS OF SALES there were over 270,000 iPhone sales. They admit to some activation problems, which is why the number of activations is lower than the number of sales. Still, the analysts look at these numbers and assume they are to date. THEY AREN’T!!! Look at the print! This is the first two days we’re talking about, which happened to be the end of the quarter! Since then that number could be 2 million for all we know!
The world is growing stupider by the minute.
